Grace's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as seeds and fertilizer, to optimize her production.

Grace's story

Grace (a mother of four school-going children) is a woman with big dreams. Grace is married and blessed with cute children. Her perseverance and determination to improve her family's quality of life have enabled her to be a successful farmer. Grace ventured into farming a few years ago. Her primary income sources are crops and animal products. Grace enjoys her farming business, mostly because it gives her a sense of independence.

The biggest constraint to the success of Grace is the use of poor-quality fertilizers and lack of pesticides and herbicides as a chemical control method. Juhudi Kilimo has partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers in Maua now can buy productive assets and important agricultural inputs for use on their farms.

Grace is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs such as seeds and fertilizer. This loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will help her fill the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and elevate the quality of life for her family.
