Las Palomitas De Chocruz Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to purchase pigs and goats for her animal husbandry business.

Las Palomitas De Chocruz Group's story

Being a single parent is a daunting task in all parts of the world. In Guatemala, many women have been left alone to raise their children because so many of their husbands have left to work in the U.S. or have died.

Maria, a 38-year-old mother of four children (ages 10-18), is a widow. She is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Las Palomitas de Chocruz” in the department/state of Quiche.

Maria earns income from her animal husbandry business. She currently would like to expand the business and generate more income.

Maria would like to buy goats and pigs with her second Kiva loan, so that she can increase sales and generate more income.

Maria only has a second grade education, but she continues to learn in her monthly Trust Bank meetings. She, along with the other six Maya K’iche ladies in the Trust Bank, actively participate in educational training when they learn about how to manage their businesses best, care for their families, and empower themselves.

Every other month, they have access to basic health care services. Friendship Bridge calls this effective combination of loans, education, and health care “Microcredit Plus”. It works!

These women share common goals of improving their lives, educating their children, and stepping into a more prosperous future.

Kiva investors are held in the highest regard for funding their loans. Thank you!
