Flores De Chuxtzampalu Group's story

Flores de Chuxtzampalu is the name of the Friendship Bridge trust bank for which 35-year-old Isabel, the treasurer, keeps track of funds. She lives in the department/state of Totonicapan, is married, and is the mother of three children (4 months to 16 years old). Isabel has an animal husbandry business and raises chickens and pigs. Her goals are to improve the quality of life for her family and educate her children. Isabel is requesting a Kiva loan to buy chickens and feed for them.

Although Isabel only had two years of formal education, she yearns to learn more about the world around her. Each month, along with the other nine ladies in the group, she learns about relevant topics like budgeting, planning, and investing, as well as hygiene, nutrition, and health. The women also learn about self-esteem and empowerment. Every other month, they have access to health-care services. This useful combination of loans, education, and health-care services is called Microcredit Plus.

With the help of Kiva and Friendship Bridge, Isabel and her friends are poised to step into a brighter future, benefiting themselves, their families, and their community in Totonicapan. They are building a foundation so that their children will not face the same challenges they have. Thank you, Kiva investors!
