A loan helped to hire more labour and buy farm inputs to help her on her farm so that she can improve her produce.

Grace's story

Grace (39 years old, mom of 2, and 1 child is school-going) has never felt sorry for herself for a lack of formal college education. She uses her natural abilities to pull herself out of her poverty situation. Her perseverance and determination have enabled her to send her child to school regardless of the many adversities she has had to go through. Grace has never lost her enthusiasm. She moves from one challenge to another and emerges a victor.

In Matuu, Kenya, agriculture is one of the most competitive industries, especially due to the high cost of operations necessary to improve farming. Such costs include the cost of land acquisition and inputs, which are always rising.

After learning about Juhudi Kilimo, Grace applied for this loan to hire more labour and buy farm inputs to help her on her farm so that she can improve her produce and make more income to support her children.

Unlike local money lenders who charge exorbitant interests on loans, Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva have entered into a partnership that aims at improving the lives of smallholder farmers by providing them with loans and encouraging them to save. Through this intervention, movement of funds in the rural communities has increased, thereby alleviating rural poverty. Please support this woman to achieve her dreams today!
