Chucruz Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy fabric and cones of thread for her textile business.

Chucruz Group's story

Josefina is a married mother of two children, 7 and 11. She is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Chucruz” in the department/state of Totonicapan.

Since her husband became ill and unable to work, she has sole responsibility to care for the household.

She became a seamstress 12 years ago and, thankfully, she has earned enough income to support her family. Josefina is requesting her third Kiva loan to invest in the purchase of fabric and cones of thread at the wholesale level.

There are seven women in the Trust Bank who meet monthly to offer each other support and participate in relevant educational trainings designed by a facilitator who uses pictures, diagrams, role playing and games to share the information. The women are grateful to learn effective business management practices so that they can run their textile and sandal businesses effectively. They also learn about health, nutrition, hygiene and the use of medicinal plants. Friendship Bridge calls the combination of loans, education and health care “Microcredit Plus.”

Josefina and her friends appreciate the generosity of Kiva investors for funding their much needed loans. Thank you to each of you for learning about them! The women are poised to step into a brighter and more successful future because of you!
