Carmelo's story

Don Carmelo Z. is a small farmer in the district of El Banco in town of El Rama. He is married Sra. Justina Flores and they have four children. Santos (age 42), Abelardo (age 40) and Francisca (age 30) are all married and have their own families. Darvis (age 28) is the youngest child and the only who still lives at home. He helps his father work the land and look after the farm.

Don Carmelo is requesting his fourth loan so that he can plant rice and sell it within three months. This will help him generate revenue to improve the living standards for himself and his family. He has the necessary experience since he has been working the land for more than 40 years. He also grows corn, bananas, beans, and tubers. In addition, Santos raises livestock and currently has a few small animals that provide daily income to sustain his family. He is known as an individual who is hardworking, honest, and responsible in all of his commitments.
