Guerreras De Dios Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy pigs to provide meat for upcoming holiday activities.

Guerreras De Dios Group's story

Forty-eight year old Gloria is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank "Guerreras de Dios" located in the southern area of the Department of Quetzaltenango. Along with eight other women, Gloria is applying for a second Kiva loan. The women want to grow their businesses selling meat products (chicken/pork), tortillas, and catalog personal care products. Their goals are to eradicate their family's poverty.

Gloria only has a 4th grade education but she is dedicated to providing a good life for her five children. She opened a business raising and butchering pigs and then sells their meat by the pound. Gloria is requesting a loan to buy pigs, so that she can take advantage of the upcoming months of holiday activities.

She shares, "I have had my business for many years. I opened it with the purpose of helping my husband with household expenses and providing a good life for my five children (8 -27). The profits generated by my business are used to cover basic household expenses and also to send my children to primary and secondary school."

The women of "Guerreras de Dios" are grateful to Kiva investors for providing the much needed capital for their loans. At their monthly meetings, the ladies participate in educational sessions, part of the "Microcredit Plus" program of loans, education and healthcare services. Topics are drawn from four areas: business, women, family, health. Thanks to your support, they can create more empowered and brighter futures!
