Bavuyese Group's story

Maphallang is a 62-year-old woman who lives with 7 other family members including 4 children in a a group of separated huts without access to electricity. She is unemployed and depends on her husband's pension fund for a living and to provide food for people who totally depend on her for a living.

Maphallang wants to have electricity connected to her house, but she spends most of her income on mobile phone charging, paraffin, gas and candles,. This can cost up to LSL 516 per month. She also spends as much as 3 hours per day, gathering fuel and fulfilling other energy needs like phone charging.

Maphallang and the other members of the group in this village each bought the ACE1 cookstove to help them save the money they spend every month on fuel and also help them access solar electricity for charging their mobile devices any time for free.

She says having the ACE1 is going to help her to reduce expenses on fuel so she can save more for farming.

The ACE1 clean cookstove is biomass and solar powered. For more information on the ACE1 cookstove please visit www.africancleanenergy.com and Facebook @African Clean Energy
