A loan helped to buy more shoes to sell.

Lazeri's Group's story

Lazeri's Group is comprised of 2 hardworking women. Lazeri is 19 years old and lives in the town of Kasese in the Kasese region of Uganda. She is married and has one child. For the past 3 years, Lazeri has been working hard to manage her shoe business.

To help expand her business, Lazeri has requested a share of 1,800,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more shoes to sell, which will help Lazeri to generate greater profits. With more profits from the expanded business, she will be in a position to care for her basic needs at home and for her child, thereby improving their standard of living. Lazeri hopes that in the future she will be able to construct a residential house.

Lazeri is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
