Prossy's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase enough weaves, hair lotions, body cosmetics and treatment.

Prossy's story

Prossy is 20 years old and lives in the town of Makindye in the Makindye region of Uganda. She has one child who is currently in school. For the past 4 years, Prossy has been working hard to manage her beauty salon, which does hair dressing.

To help expand her business, Prossy has requested a loan of 800,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to purchase enough weaves, hair lotions, body cosmetics. treatment and a hair dryer to attract more customers. This will help Prossy to generate greater profits so she can pay for basic home products like sugar, soap and clothes for her child. Prossy hopes that in the future she will be able to build apartments for business.

Prossy is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
