Albina's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy seeds and fertilizer to use on her newly-expanded farmland.

Albina's story

Albina, 35 years old, is a mother of three. She started farming a few years ago on a small plot of land she acquired. On the farm she has dairy cows and a small garden. Filled with determination to improve her family's conditions while not being deterred by her poor financial status, Albina has decided to expand her existing farm. She is kindly seeking a loan to buy seeds and fertilizer to use on this expansion.

Many smallholder farmers in Kapsowar suffer from lack of access to reliable sources of financing. One objective that Juhudi Kilimo aims for is increasing the ease of access to farm inputs and income-generating assets for farmers. Through the intervention of Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, inputs such as fertilizers and seeds have become more accessible to members of Juhudi Kilimo.

Because of the favorable weather and road conditions, Albina will have an easy time transporting her crop products to the market. Loans are hard to come by in Kenya for small farmers with little, irregular income and no solid collateral. A few organizations, such as Juhudi Kilimo, support farmers like Albina.

Through this loan, Albina's dream of seeing her children graduate from school will be achieved.
