Sector Los Vicente Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more young hens for her poultry business.

Sector Los Vicente Group's story

Teodora, the Secretary of the Friendship BridgeTrust Bank “Sector Los Vicente”, is 22 years old, a single mother and has a 2-year-old daughter. She cleans the homes of nearby neighbors and also has a small yard where she cares for 115 laying hens. She sells the eggs by the box and also sells live hens. She is keenly aware of her responsibilities as a single mom and currently needs to request her first Kiva loan to buy more young hens.

Teodora has 6 years of formal education. She, along with 9 other ladies in the group, lives in a rural area in the department/state of Totonicapan. On a monthly basis, the women gather together for a meeting. They offer each other support, make loan payments and participate in educational training, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education and health care services. They appreciate learning about effective business management practices, about health, hygiene, nutrition, as well as how to prioritize their expenses.

Teodora shares, “Thanks to what I learn in our monthly educational sessions, I feel more informed and empowered.”

It would be impossible for Teodora and her friends to walk into a bank to secure a loan. They are simply “unbankable”. Kiva investors, who believe in them and fund their loans, are very much appreciated by these women.

Thank you!
