A loan helped to buy oil, soap, and millet to resell.

Th_Aïda Group's story

This group of 14 women make up a part of a banc villageois that was established in January 2000. The women live mostly in the village and surrounds and work primarily in commerce. They get along very well and have good relations.

Ndéye, who is standing on the right in the photo with her hand raised, is 59 years old. She is married and a mother of five children, including one daughter who is married.

Ndéye works in the small-scale commerce of a variety of products and has more than 15 years' experience. She runs her business from her home and sometimes at the village market.

[With her loan], she is going to buy one 20-liter drum of oil, two packs of soap, one 50-kilogram sack of millet, and condiments in the large towns, which she will then resell hopefully for a good profit. Her business is profitable, because she has many customers that she has been able to retain due to the quality of her products and a climate of confidence that she has established.

Profits will go towards helping her husband with the family expenses and covering her small needs.
