Hellen's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as certified seeds and nutrient rich fertilizer to boost the quality of her produce, earn more profits, and improve her living standards.

Hellen's story

Before the moon 'goes to sleep' to pave the way for the scorching Kenyenya sun, Hellen jumps out of her bed to start her day and prepare her family. Once her last-born is off to school, she picks up her farm implements and goes to her farm. This is her everyday routine Monday to Monday. Hellen is determined to give her family a quality life. She is a smallholder farmer from Kenyenya, in a rural and poor village.

Hellen started farming due to economic necessity. She owns a small parcel of land where she practices maize and vegetable farming, and rears dairy animals.

One objective that Juhudi Kilimo aims at fulfilling is increasing the ease of accessing farm inputs and income-generating assets for farmers. Through the intervention of Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, fertilizer, seeds and other important farm inputs have become more accessible.

Hellen is seeking this loan to buy farm inputs such as certified seeds and rich-nutrients fertilizer.

This loan will enable her to improve her production through use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will help her fill the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, generate more income to repay the loan debt and elevate the quality of life for her family
