Santa Lucia La Reforma, Totonicapan, Quiché Department, Guatemala / Retail

Las Lucianas Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy essential inventory for her convenience store.

Las Lucianas Group's story

One year ago, 22 year old Ana opened her convenience store where she sells essential everyday items like grains, spices, oil, eggs, coffee, and other merchandise.

She is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank, “Las Lucianas” in the department/state of Totonicapan. With her income, Ana is able to help support her parents since she is single and lives in their home.

This will be her 4th KIVA loan cycle and she would like to use the funds to buy rice, coffee, soap, drinks and other items that her customers know she will have in her neighbourhood store.

She is determined to be a successful entrepreneur, even though she only has a 2nd grade education.

There are 7 ladies in the Trust Bank who raise animals, have convenience stores and “tortillerias” where they cook fresh and delicious corn tortillas 3 times daily. Their average age is 35. Because they have little or no formal education, their monthly educational trainings are vital to their success. Topics are drawn from 4 areas: business, health, family, women.

Ana and her friends are eager to learn and apply the information immediately. They are determined to succeed!

Thank you to KIVA investors from all parts of the world who partner with Friendship Bridge and fund these essential loans. You are much appreciated!
