A loan helped me to move into a commercial space, buy packaging equipment, and boost marketing and advertising.
I’ve struggled with my weight most of my adult life. At 16, I literally ate Snickers the entire summer; and I lost a massive amount of weight. I was the smallest I've ever been. That was the beginning of my sugar addiction. From that point forward, every meal was sugar-filled. What started as weight loss, quickly turned into weight gain. Yo-yo dieting, exercise binges, didn't matter, the weight, always came back. I didn't know how sugar addiction was plaguing my body. It seemed the more I exercised, the bigger I became. So I gave up. Fast forward, and now at 50, I had a nagging desire to get my weight and health under control. I found my weight issues were due to insulin resistance, brought on by excess sugar consumption. I needed an easy way to quit sugar and get healthy. I tried all the sugar substitutes out there, and they were horrible. The sugar-free foods tasted yucky. Eager to solve this problem, I began researching and found a low-energy monosaccharide sugar found in small quantities in natural products, that was discovered 70 years ago. My discovery of Allulose was a game changer for me. Because the body doesn’t metabolize Allulose it won’t raise blood sugar or spike insulin. It's less sweet than sugar, so it alone didn’t completely satisfy my palate. So, began formulating sweetener blends trying to match the sweetness level of sugar. After several formulations, I crafted the perfect sweetener blend. It has no coolness, or bitterness, or excessively sweet taste on the palate. It has a pure, clean sweet taste and has helped me kick my sugar addiction. Wanting to help others kick their sugar addictions, I started SumFoods. And our first product is our sweetener blend SumSweet+.
