but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy high-quality certified seeds and fertilizer in order to improve production, generate more income and improve a single mother's quality of life.

Catherine's story

Wonderful Kiva community! Meet Catherine, a 49-year-old single mom and a borrower who is a smallholder farmer from a village in the Kitale area of Kenya.

She started farming a few years ago on a small plot she acquired. On the farm, she has dairy cows and crops.

Catherine is seeking a KES 50,000 loan, which she will use to pay for farm inputs and to hire labor to grow more crops. It takes a lot for a smallholder farmer to risk limited resources to expand a farm business.

With your help, Catherine will be able to cover the high cost of farm inputs necessary for expansion.

A significant portion of the profit will be plowed back into the business to fuel growth as she sets a good foundation for her family.

Her biggest dream is to build a modern house so her family can live better and stop worrying.
