Matila's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more pandanus for her weaving business and also to renovate her kitchen for her cooking business.

Matila's story

Matila is a 57 year old widow, who lives together with her daughter and two sons. She has six children and six grand children. They live in their own home near the town area. Only two children left to be educated. The rest of her children already have their own family.

Her business includes weaving and baking. All these are done at home, with the help of her daughter. Matila weaves different types of Tongan mats with different sizes, also weaves taovala of different sizes, then sends it to family overseas and also sells it locally to earn good money from it. The process of weaving may takes a week, but the money being earned from it is really good.

In addition, her baking business is done at home with the help of her daughter. They bake different cakes with different flavors and also pies, and sell it at the local market every Saturday, when ordering cake is available at any time in their home. Not only that, but she also slices cakes and pies and sells them at Chinese retail stores at their own village and nearby villages. She earns good money from both her businesses. Matila is one of the most trusted clients in SPBD program, for that is why she is in the SME loan category. Only the trusted clients reach this category of loans. Her business is running actively, and she has bestowed a vision in front of her, which is where she is targeting to right now. Her vision is to become a very successful business woman, and one day build up her own Bakery store.
