A loan helped to buy cosmetic products and incense to resell.

Th_Penda Group's story

These 10 brave women from the same village seized the chance to join the banc villageois which was set up in their area in February 2000. They have good social and professional relationships, and have benefited from several loans which they repaid on time.

Ndéye Fatou is 33 years old and the group's representative; she is to the right of the photo with her hand raised. She is married and mother of four children including one girl, all in school.

Ndéye Fatou works in the sale of cosmetic products and incense; she buys semi-wholesale from wholesalers and resells in her village by going door-to-door. She capitalises on a good experience of more than five years in this sector.

She is going to buy incense and different bottles of perfumes which she will resell on credit; she has a good customer base and makes good profits. Her earnings will enable her to build up her savings and to help her husband to take care of their children.
