Nyamira, Nyamira County, Kenya / Agriculture

Alice's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy high-quality farming inputs such as fertilizers to help improve her tea farm and make more income for her family.

Alice's story

Alice(46 years old) is a well-respected mum who started searching for financial independence few years ago by practicing mixed farming (crop and dairy). On her farm, which is in Nyamira, Kenya, she also grows tea so that she can earn additional profits for her family. Alice, with her mixed farm, generates the income to sustain her family. She has been practicing mixed farming for the past seven years. Through all those years, she has been able to take care of her family and pay school fees for her children.

Born and raised in a family where agriculture is the only source of income, Alice had no other alternative way of earning an income, so she ventured into farming.

Alice has realized that there are very few tea farmers in her local village. She views this as a great opportunity for her to earn increased profits that would go beyond meeting the basic needs of her household. Alice feels inconvenienced by the services of financial institutions around her, especially when she is urgently in need of a loan.

She is, therefore, seeking the intervention of Juhudi Kilimo, in collaboration with Kiva, to help her raise capital to buy high-quality farming inputs such as fertilizers to help her improve her tea farm.

Alice thanks the entire Kiva community for their kindness.
