Marie & Martha's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped us put down payment on a brick mortar location, renovate, and expand our inventory.

Marie & Martha's story

We are sisters, Martha and Marie Louise, the owners for MAMA. In 2003, we migrated to the USA from Ghana, West Africa chasing the “American Dream”. 16 years later, we are closer than ever to accomplishing our dream of living the American Dream. The previous year entailed a painful marital separation which eventually led us to leave everything behind. With a truck full of hope, we drove over 20 hours from New York to Oklahoma with a heart full of faith and passion to start something new. We just wanted to get far from everything we have ever known and step outside. This was the beginning of turning our love for food and cooking into a thriving business. MAMA IS Tulsa’s first African-Caribbean restaurant. Since the first day of operation, Mama has been experiencing exponential success thanks to juicy jerk chicken, signature MAMA rice, and downright solid customer service. Mama is a story of a new beginning, second chances and faith to dare to try something new. Our first year has been a crazy adventure and through it all, we have persevered to learn the greatest lesson of all. To be able to fly one must first learn how to jump. Martha & Marie
