Las Almendras Group's story

María is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank, Las Almendras. She joined the group to continue to participate in the Kiva loan program.

Since María did not have a formal education, she wants to benefit from the monthly training that is a part of the Microcredit Plus program. She is 37 years old and a single mother of a 9-year-old girl. María rents a house where she lives with her mother and daughter, and she wants to save to buy her own house in the future. To achieve this goal, María sews garments and also sells gold and silver jewelry. With the profits that her business generates, María is able to cover home expenses as well as her daughter's primary education.

María needs to supply her business with raw materials and is requesting a Kiva loan to buy a variety of fabric, buttons, zippers, needles and thread cones.

The nine women of Las Almendras live in the Department of Suchitepéquez on Guatemala’s Pacific Coast. Maria and her friends want to excel, and thanks to the benefits they get from their businesses, they are achieving it. They sell clothes, plastic tableware, jewelry, cut chicken, and traditional tamales. The women believe that with the new loan their businesses will be very successful!

Thanks to Kiva investors who support these women, they will achieve success!
