Elizabeth's story

Get to know this beautiful woman, Elizabeth (a 46-year-old mom of 2 school going children). She is a passionate farmer from a remote village in Kapcherop, Kenya. She has defied the common thinking among Kenyans that agriculture is a very risky venture. Thanks to her daily efforts, she has managed to give her children a good start by providing them with a good quality education.

In the modern world, agriculture has become exceedingly dynamic, and the kinds of inputs that are being used in the sector today are more advanced. To this end, there is need to use improved farming inputs for effective production. These include high quality seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. As an informed farmer, Elizabeth has requested this loan to purchase farm inputs such as certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers, to improve her output and boost her income to educate her children.

Being a woman and accessing funds in Kenya, especially around Kapcherop, is very challenging, but Elizabeth feels relieved knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like her. She is always working to improve her living conditions, but her biggest dreams are to become independent and support her family by herself, to secure her children’s future and to buy a home.

Elizabeth appreciates your goodwill in her life as 2019 comes to an end.
