Las Maravillas Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy high quality thread, dyes and fabric.

Las Maravillas Group's story

Pascuala is a young 28 year old single woman with 6 years of formal education. She lives with her parents, has her own textile business and is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Las Maravillas” in the picturesque department/state of Solola.

Pascuala has two wooden looms set up in a room of the home where she and her mother weave traditional wrap around skirts or “cortes”. She is able to deliver 8 “cortes” each week.

With the income from the business, she is able to cover the household expenses of the family including the expenses of her brothers and sisters.

Pascuala is requesting her first Kiva loan to buy high quality thread, dyes and traditional fabric. Her short term goal is to open a bank savings account.

Pascuala and her friends in the Trust Bank benefit greatly from the monthly educational training of the Trust Bank when they learn about effective business practices, how to take care of themselves and their families best. Nutrition, hygiene, the use of medicinal plants are some of the topics that are covered. Pascuala shares, “The Facilitator from Friendship Bridge shares such useful information with us. The topics are very important and relevant.” Every other month, the ladies have access to health care. Friendship Bridge calls the combination of loans, education and health care services “Microcredit Plus”.

Thank you, Kiva investors!
