Kd_Médina Chérif Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy crates of chicks, flour and the ingredients to make cakes.

Kd_Médina Chérif Group's story

This group, created in July 2012, is composed of dynamic women who are united by family ties, work or living in the same neighborhood. Cakes and chicken farming are the main business activities of the group.

Mariama, standing to the right of the photo with her hand raised, is the representative of the group. She is 33 years old, married and mother to six children. Three of her children are girls and the youngest is one year old.

With the loan received, Mariama buys flour, sugar, yeast, eggs and milk. She also buys boxes of chicks which are packaged at 50 per box. She makes the cakes herself and sells them in her neighborhood. The chicks are bred for 45 to 60 days before being sold in the local market. Mariama has a loyal clientele and makes good use of her extensive experience in this area.

The profits from the business allow her to help with the family expenses of paying the interest of the loan, building up her savings, improving the living conditions of her family, ensuring the schooling of her children, and supporting her mother (who is widowed).
