Princesas Del Rey Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy essential equipment for her optometry office.

Princesas Del Rey Group's story

There are 11 women in the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Princesas del Rey” who live in the department/state of Quetzaltenango.

Leslie, a single mother of 2 children (5,12), is one of them. She worked hard to complete her studies in optometry. She lives with her children in a rented home and has transformed one room into an optometry office. She uses her income to cover household expenses and the elementary school education of her oldest daughter.

She is quite pleased because in the 3 years that the business has been open, she has increased income. Leslie has budgeted carefully and would like to purchase essential instruments for the business including an ophthalmoscope (an eye test lens) and a retinoscope (to evaluate a retina) with her 2nd Kiva loan. And in the near future, she would like to open a formal clinic! Leslie is a good example of an empowered, determined and visionary woman!

Leslie is truly an exceptional woman because she has completed her education with an advanced degree. Most of the 30,000 ladies who participate in the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education and health care services have little or no formal education. Their monthly educational trainings give them much needed information about managing their businesses, caring for themselves and their families. A Facilitator designs the classes and uses pictures, diagrams, role playing and games to share the information.

Thank you, Kiva investors!
