Caroline's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizer, to grow more tea and create hope for her this 2019 season.

Caroline's story

Dear Kiva community,

Caroline (ever smiling) is a 45-year-old hardworking mom of two school-going children from a remote village in the Nandi hills area of Kenya. Thanks to her daily efforts, she has managed to give her family a good start by providing them with a good quality of life.

Caroline has a farm where she grows different crops and raises livestock; she also earns some income from a personal business.

The Nandi hills area is a favorable one for farming, so she is seeking a 100,000 KES loan through Kiva's field partner Juhudi Kilimo to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizer, to enable her to grow more tea crops, reap maximum profits, and expand her tea business.

Being a poor woman and accessing funds in Kenya, especially around her remote village, is very challenging, but Caroline feels relieved knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like herself. She is always working to improve her family’s living conditions, but her biggest dreams are to become independent and to secure her family’s future.

She is a borrower who has a good credit history and is worth supporting.
