Rehemah's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy more soda, juice, and water.

Rehemah's story

Rehemah is 21-years-old and lives in the town of Makindye in the Makindye region of Uganda. She is divorced and has one child. For the past 2 years, Rehemah has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells soda and bread.

To help expand her business, Rehemah has requested a loan of 800,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more soda, juice and water, and will help Rehemah to generate greater profits. Rehema will use the profits of the business to pay school fees for her siblings and child, buy for herself personal items like clothes, pay house bills and provide basic needs for her family like food and medical care thereby improving on their standards of living. Rehemah hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a plot of land.

Rehemah is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.
