Total loan: $500

Honiara, Capital Territory, Solomon Islands / Agriculture

Mary's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy empty drums, nets, copper, wheelbarrows and spades for her cocoa-drying business.

Mary's story

Mary is 39 years old and married with two children. They live in a rural community outside Honiara, the capital of the Solomon Islands.

She wants to start up a cocoa drying business where she buys wet beans from local farmers in her community and dries them to sell to local cocoa exporters in town to earn a living.

Mary has requested a loan to pay for empty drums, nets, copper, wheelbarrows and spades to make a cocoa roasting shack for her business.

She became a member of SPBD in 2019 to gain access to financial services and this is her first loan.

Mary will spend her profits to meet her family's daily expenses and improve her business.
