Paola Mercedes's story

Paola, who is 32, is a charismatic, responsible, hardworking, and enterprising woman. She is happily married and the mother of three precious children. Paola and her husband, as good, loving, and responsible parents, want their children to receive an education so that they will have a better future. Paola and her family do not have their own home, and so are living with her parents.

After enduring some difficulties, Paola kept up her strength and her faith and, in order to strengthen her household, she found an opportunity in her culinary abilities. She began to make quimbolitos [pastries], tamales, humitas, yucca bread, filled pies, buñuelos [sweet fritters], and other snacks. She sells them from her small premises and makes home deliveries when they are ordered. This work has helped her to cover the necessities of her household, especially when her husband could not find work. She wants to keep up the initiative with her business, so she has applied for a new loan which will help her to increase her stocks of beverages, snacks, tables, chairs and flatware. This will enable her to offer better service to her customers and will work out well for Paola as she will earn more income in order to keep providing for the education of her children.
