Abigael's loan finished fundraising, but these similar borrowers need your support

A loan helped to gain access to cost-efficient hybrid seeds and fertilizer for crop cultivation for this woman with a good credit history.

Abigael's story

Abigael (a 39-year-old mom of 3 school-going children) is a hardworking farmer who grows crops and raises livestock in a remote village in the Siongiroi area of Kenya. She also earns extra income from a personal business.

Abigael never had a formal education, so she is content with the farming lifestyle. Thanks to her daily efforts, she has managed to give her family a good start.

The Siongiroi area is favorable for farming. Abigael is seeking a Kiva loan of 70,000 KES from Juhudi Kilimo to buy farm inputs, such as fertilizer and seeds, in order to grow more crops and increase her business.

Being a woman and accessing funds in Kenya, especially around Siongiroi, is very challenging. However, Abigael is relieved to know there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like her. She is always working to improve her family’s living conditions, but her biggest dream is to become independent.

Abigael looks forward to receiving a helping hand!
