Jesus's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped fund the purchase of the remaining kitchen equipment and supplies needed, finish the permits process, and start an online presence to help with all the marketing efforts for my small business.

Jesus's story

My name is Jesus and I am a 27-year-old Puerto Rican with an entrepreneurial drive. I was born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico. I was raised by loving grandparents who taught me to strive for excellence, but always stay humble. I've been in the restaurant business as a chef for 7 years now, but always working for someone else. I created unique dishes in each of those restaurants, from craft pizzas to craft pastelillos. After hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, residents were forced to stand in up to 8-hour lines for gas, food, water, etc. At some point, I took my tent out, a bbq and a fryer and started making pinchos and pastelillos. I started making my own combinations and offering a variety based on the ingredients that I was able to find. By word of mouth only, demand greatly increased. I knew then that I was going to start my own business. My goal is to create a successful eatery business that can not only provide for me, but also give opportunity to others who struggle in my neighborhood.
