Mujeres Tierra Santa Group's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to resupply the shelves of her convenience store and buy the latest designs of traditional clothing.

Mujeres Tierra Santa Group's story

Odilia is a 37-year-old married mother of four children who are over the age of eight years old. She is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank group called “Mujeres de Tierra Santa” in the department/state of Solola. It is important to her that her children have a complete education and so she saves some of her income from her two businesses to cover this expense.

Odilia has a convenience store where she sells basic staple items and she also has a traditional textile business. She is currently requesting her third Kiva loan to resupply inventory for the store and buy the latest designs of traditional colorful clothing.

There are ten Maya Kaqchikel women in the group who benefit greatly from their monthly educational trainings, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education and healthcare services. The business tools that they receive, like budgeting, planning and investing, help them run their traditional textile businesses, convenience stores and small coffee farms. Other ladies make sausages. They empower themselves, raise their self esteem, learn about women’s rights/roles, and have access to family planning. The ladies also learn about health, hygiene, and nutrition.

Kiva loans are quite important to Odilia and the ladies in the group. They would be unable to secure a loan in a bank. Thank you, Kiva lender, for your kindness in funding these essential loans!
