Elizabeth's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped a single woman borrower with good credit standing to buy farm inputs to improve her productivity, leading to increased profits to support her children until they finish school.

Elizabeth's story

Hello, Kiva community. Although Elizabeth, a 35-year-old single mom of two school going children, is poor, she says she is not deterred by her condition and she loves to work on her farm. She is a rural smallholder farmer from the Chuka area of Kenya. Her family's main revenue source is milk from their dairy farm and banana crops. However, she also participates in some side business to complement her meagre income.

The biggest problem that farmers from her village face is the huge discrepancy in their access to agricultural inputs, resulting in the fact that farmer's output and earnings are below what they could be. Juhudi Kilimo has partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers like Elizabeth can take out loans and purchase farm inputs.

Elizabeth is humbly seeking a loan to buy farm inputs such as fertilizers to improve her banana crop farm. Your loan will enable her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. Elizabeth’s competitive advantage in the market will be evident after she receives this loan. Through this intervention, she will be able to afford food for her loving family.

She thanks Kiva lenders for their kindness.
