Esther's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support

A loan helped to buy farm inputs such as fertilizer and seeds to enable an ever smiling repeat Kiva borrower with a good credit history to grow more crops.

Esther's story

Dear Kiva community,

Esther, ever smiling, is a hardworking mom from a remote village in the Kerugoya area of Kenya. Thanks to her daily efforts, she has managed to give her family a good start by providing them with a good quality life. Esther has a farm where she grows crops and raises livestock. She also earns some income from a personal business. She never had a formal education and is content with the farming lifestyle.

The Kerugoya area is a favourable one for farming, so Esther is seeking an 80,000 KES loan through Kiva's field partner, Juhudi Kilimo, to buy farm inputs such as fertilizer and seeds to enable her to grow more crops, reap maximum profits and expand her crop business.

Being a poor woman and accessing funds in Kenya, especially around her remote village, is very challenging but Esther feels relieved knowing there are institutions such as Kiva that help enterprising women like herself. She is always working to improve her family’s living conditions but her biggest dreams are to become independent and to secure her family’s future. Esther is a repeat Kiva borrower who has a good credit history and is worth supporting.
