Mary's story

Meet Mary, an easygoing woman. She is a woman who has always kept her head high despite personal challenges that almost led her life into a slump. Mary is a smallholder farmer full of dreams and aspirations in her life. She is a hardworking person who chose to invest the few resources she had in agriculture.

For Mary, farming plays a pivotal role in the welfare of her family, ensuring that they never go without a meal on the table. Mary earns a living by dairy and poultry farming. She also grows and sells crops, eggs, produce, and milk to her neighbors to earn an income.

Mary has always wanted to start a cereals business in her local market and has requested a loan to buy cereals. She intends to buy different varieties such as maize, sorghum, rice, wheat, barley, and millet to sell in her local market. In Thika, the cereal business is a high-profit-generating trade since the demand for cereals is always on the rise. Because of the good relationship she has with her neighbors, Mary believes she can successfully market these cereals in her village.
