Michael's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped our farm build greenhouses so our crop can be more resilient against weather extremes, especially heavy rain.
I was born and raised on a kibbutz, a collective agricultural community in Israel. In 1996, I arrived on the Big Island. I wanted to start an organic farm for growing produce that is safe for people and the environment. I am passionate about the educational aspect of the farm. The farm allows young people from the community to experience farm work, learn about growing vegetables organically and working in collaboration with nature. I get to know my workers and advocate for them when needed. The Hamakua Coast, where we are situated, is a rural low-income area with a scarcity of job opportunities. I like that the farm offers flexible employment for area residents who often hold more than one job, and provides an opportunity for learning about food, farming and the ecosystem.
