A loan helped to buy thread in bulk and weave traditional dresses to earn a living.

Ibecha's story

Ibecha is a 47-year-old married woman living in the Imphal East District of Manipur. She is engaged in a weaving business to support her family of four. She weaves some of the traditional Manipuri dresses including phanek, kudhei, and woolen shawls. She later sells them in the local market to earn a living. She manages to earn a monthly household income of INR 11,000 through the business.

As a concerned mother of two--a boy and a girl, she is worried about their future. She wants to be well prepared for her children's needs in the near future. She plans to support the two by expanding her weaving business. She has applied for a loan of INR 30,000 from Chanura, one of Milaap's field partners. She will use the amount to purchase thread as she plans on weaving a variety of clothes. This would attract more customers and help her expand her business. She and her family are grateful to the lenders for the support.
