Regalo De Cristo Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to stock up the shelves of her general store.

Regalo De Cristo Group's story

Ana is a 36 year old married mother of 3 children (14, 17, and 19 years of age). She has 3 years of formal education and is a member of the Communal Bank “Regalo de Cristo” [Gift of Christ]. Along with the 6 other members of the group, she wants to be an empowered woman, mother and entrepreneur.

Six years ago, Ana opened a convenience store that has expanded, and with part of the income she was able to pay for the high school and university education of her children.

Now it is time for her to stock up the shelves of her business. Ana is requesting her first Kiva loan to buy groceries like rice, beans, eggs, pasta, coffee as well as drinks.

The 7 women in the Communal Bank, who live in a rural area in the department/state of Suchitepequez, look forward to their monthly meetings when they make loan payments and participate in educational trainings, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of Friendship Bridge. The “Plus” programs are essential to their success and include monthly educational training, healthcare services and advanced training. A Facilitator designs their educational sessions that are relevant to their lives and include an aspect of 4 topics: business, health, family and women.

Kiva investors who generously supply capital for the loans are highly appreciated by Ana and her friends. They will invest the Kiva funds in their textile, banana, firewood, and food businesses. This will help them create a brighter and more prosperous future.

Thank you to each one of you!
