G.s La Cordillera Group's story

Doña Ma. Susana is 55 years old and married. She has four children and lives with her family in the community of La Iguala, Lempira. Sixteen years ago, she decided to set up her business of producing and selling coffee. She has this planting in the agricultural zone of the community, and she sells the harvests that she obtains on her own property and in the market in the zone, selling it as husked, washed, and dried beans.

Doña Ma. Susana has applied to the institution as a member of the group for a loan to buy supplies for her planting and pay for labor to clean the land. Her goal is to give good maintenance to her parcels of land. With this income, she hopes that her farm will be larger and she can give a better way of life to her children with the earnings that she obtains.

The group called "La Cordillera [Mountain Range] Solidarity Group" is composed of three people. All have considerable experience in agricultural work. The amount of the loan is 47,000 lempiras. They will invest it in maintaining their farms, fertilization, and buying more seed for raising coffee. In the photo, they are, from left to right: José, Ma. Susana, and Rafael.
