Prossy's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to stock enough plantains, known as gonja, and other items to support her business.

Prossy's story

Prossy is 19 years old and lives in the town of Mityana in the Mityana region of Uganda. She has three children. For the past two years, Prossy has been working hard to manage her catering business, which sells fast food.

To help expand her business, Prossy has requested a loan of 1,200,000 UGX from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to stock enough plantains (gonja) and other items to support the business. This will help Prossy to generate greater profits and improve her family’s standard of living by providing them with enough food and clothing. Prossy hopes that, in the future, she will be able to add more types of snacks to expand the business.

Prossy is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities and a forum for life-skills training.
