Gade Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to expand her poultry business and buy chicken feed.

Gade Group's story

Olga, a 22 year old married mother of a 6 year old son, is so proud that she has been able send her son to the 1st grade. She is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Gade” that is located in a rural area in the department/state of Solola. Her husband is a bricklayer, and he doesn’t earn enough income to support the family. Two years ago, Olga began her poultry business. She raises chickens and she is currently requesting her 1st Kiva loan. She plans to purchase more chickens, as well as feed for her expanding flock.

Because she attended school through the 8th grade, Olga is very aware of the value of a good education. At her monthly Trust Bank meetings, she participates in educational trainings that empower her and help raise her self-esteem. Along with the 7 Maya K’iche ladies in the Trust Bank, Olga learns about effective business practices (budgeting, planning, investing), family matters (nutrition, hygiene, use of medicinal plants, health concerns and women’s issues). Friendship Bridge calls this useful combination “Microcredit Plus”. The trainings are designed by a Facilitator who uses pictures, diagrams, role playing and games to share the information. The ladies are able to wisely invest in their traditional textile and poultry businesses better.

Olga shares, “Friendship Bridge and Kiva investors are a fundamental part of our development and success." Thank you Kivainvestors for your kindness and generosity!
