A loan helped to buy farm supplies such as good-quality seeds and fertilizer so she can potentially double her production.

Edna's story

Edna (36-year-old mom of five school-going children) is hoping for a bright future for her family which consists of her husband and lovely children. Edna started mixed farming a few years ago and her family's main income source is milk from their dairy farm. However, they are also involved in other agricultural activities such as growing corn.

The biggest problem that farmers from her village face is a lack of access to agricultural supplies, meaning that farmers' yields and incomes are far below what they could be. Juhudi Kilimo partnered with Kiva to provide financial services to smallholders around Kenya. Through these financial services, farmers from Kitale, such as Edna, can now buy productive assets and important agricultural supplies to use on their farms.

Edna is seeking a loan to buy farm supplies such as good-quality seeds and fertilizer. This loan will allow her to improve her production through the use of quality farm inputs. This intervention will also help her contribute to filling the increasing demand for food in the market and, in the process, to generate more income to repay her loan and improve the quality of life for her family.

Edna hopes to improve the living conditions in her house. Help this mother to accomplish all her dreams with this loan!
