Las Gaviotas Group's story
The Las Gaviotas communal bank is a new group made up of seven members who are primarily merchants. One of them is Pascuala Sirila, who is 55 years old and in a relationship. She has a school-aged son.
For two years Pascuala has worked selling drinks made from pineapples and oranges in a tourist hut on the highway. For additional income she makes artisanal products, such as marmalades, cacao paste, and ground coffee.
Pascuala's dream is to see her son become a professional. She would also like to grow her business and be able to produce a greater variety of artisanal products from the area, such as chocolates filled with regional fruits. She will use the loan to buy a glass case to display her coffees and marmalades, and to buy supplies.
Pascuala is dressed in black checked pants and a pink shirt in the photo. The Las Gaviotas communal bank is grateful to the Kiva lenders for the support they are receiving.
