Serah's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped a widowed mom to buy high-quality hybrid seeds and fertilizer to help her improve her farm's yield and ensure her child graduates.

Serah's story

Mother’s Day is here, and Juhudi Kilimo, a Kiva field partner that cares about mothers, would like to celebrate all mothers.

From the Nyahururu area of Kenya, Serah is 47 years old and a widow with one school-going child. She is seen here in her simple home. She is a repeat Kiva borrower and a enthusiastic mom with a clean credit history.

Serah is a tireless farmer who has worked the past several years for ten hours a day, seven days a week. She practices mixed farming and has gained much experience doing so. She is considered among the best farmers in her village. Milk and her crops have been her primary sources of income. She also has some small business ventures on the side that help her make ends meet.

Serah is requesting this loan to buy high-quality hybrid seeds and fertilizer to improve her farm’s yields. She will use the profits from a better harvest to achieve her dream of giving her child a good education and seeing them graduate from school.

She is confident that she will be able to repay her loan and expand her farm. This loan will have a lasting impact on her heart, and she will be a happy mom. Light up a spirit for this year’s Mother’s Day celebration!
