Dios Es Amor Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy various colors of threads at the wholesale level, as well as a new loom.

Dios Es Amor Group's story

The President of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Dios Es Amor” or “God is Love” is 26-year-old Teresa who is a married mother of 2 children, ages 2 and 5. Her 9 years of education has helped her lead the Trust Bank and manage her traditional textile business. She shares, “Together with my husband, we have a family business making and selling colorful traditional textiles. Every morning, my husband is ready to weave cortes (wrap around skirts) and colorful huipiles (blouses). I am in charge of selling them in the Quiche market.” Teresa is beginning her 3rd loan cycle and is certain that she can wisely invest the capital. She plans to buy various colors of threads at the wholesale level, as well as a new loom. Teresa feels certain that she will easily increase production of incoming new orders.

There are 9 women in the Trust Bank who have animal husbandry and traditional textile businesses. Every month, the ladies participate in educational trainings, part of the Microcredit Plus program of loans, education and healthcare services. The program makes a huge impact on their personal, family and business lives. They acquire basic business tools (planning, budgeting, investing, savings), learn about health, hygiene, nutrition, and the use of medicinal plants. They also learn how to prioritize expenses. In the process, the women gain self-esteem and empower themselves.

Thank you, Kiva investors, for helping these women open doors to brighter futures!
