A loan helped to purchase a handloom in order to expand her weaving business.

Tapasi's story

Tapasi is a 30-year-old married woman from a small village of Nadia district, West Bengal. She has a family of 5 members and a monthly household income of 8,400 INR. She and her husband are engaged in the weaving business. They purchase threads to weave sarees, towels, and other types of cotton fabric for clothing. They weave in a rented handloom and sell the fabric in the local market. The weaving is the main source of income for the family. The income is barely enough to cover the family and educational expenses of her children. She plans to purchase a new handloom in order to make more profit and increase income by cutting the rent that they pay to the handloom owner. She has applied for a loan of 30,000 INR from Grameen Shakti, one of Milaap's field partners. She and her family will be thankful to the lenders for their support.
