El Recreo Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy large quantities of corn, eggs, as well as other essential items and drinks at the wholesale level.

El Recreo Group's story

Maria, a 45 year old married mother of 4 children has 4 years of formal education. She is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank El Recreo and has a convenience store in the department/state of Suchitepequez. Her customers appreciate her friendly and kind demeanor.

She uses part of her income for the well-being and education of her children. Right now, Maria needs to resupply the shelves of her store. She is requesting her 1st Kiva loan to purchase items most requested by her customers and plans to buy large quantities of corn, eggs, as well as other essential items and drinks at the wholesale level.

There are 11 Maya Kaqchikel ladies in the Trust Bank who speak their own language as well as Spanish, the national language of Guatemala. Their businesses range from food carts (tortillas, regional snack foods, French fries and icy confections) to convenience stores. They have planned carefully and are certain that with increased income, they can improve the quality of life for their families and supply funds for the educational needs of their children.

Their monthly educational trainings benefit them greatly and cover an aspect of 4 topics: health, business, family, women. As the ladies have little or no formal education, they appreciate learning and often share the information with family members and friends.

Thank you, Kiva investors, for your kindness in funding these much needed loans.
