To make a living, Jelina owns and operates a general store selling a variety of grocery products. She also sells soft drinks in the local community. Jelina has been engaged in her business for over four years and earns approximately 10,000 PHP a month. In 2009, Jelina joined Kiva partner PMPC to gain access to financial services to help improve her living situation and ability to engage in business activities. Jelina is requesting a new loan of 50,000 PHP which will be used as additional working capital for her soft drink selling business. This loan will be the second loan taken out by Jelina from PMPC and through Kiva. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve and expand the business.
