Extensio's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to increase the income and productivity of over 16,500 low-income farmers in rural Mexico.
Problem 73% of Mexico’s farmers live on less than USD 3,000 per year and are disconnected from their markets because of lack of access to critical information. This, coupled with poor knowledge of best agricultural practices perpetuates 15 million people living in poverty in rural Mexico and causes low agricultural productivity, which also creates a missed opportunity for the Mexican economy. Solution Extensio is a female founded certified B Corporation that serves as a digital field agent to solve this problem. Extensio’s team of agronomists, data analysts and communication specialists employs the appropriate technology for each farmer (SMS, WhatsApp, Call Center) to provide them with weekly information that they need for effective decision making including weather alerts, pest and disease alerts, best agricultural practices, and valuable market information. Impact Since 2016, Extensio has worked with 16,500 farmers connecting them to 4 value chains and sending them critical information on a weekly basis to increase their productivity and incomes. Through expanding to new regions, Extensio aims to impact over 1.6 million farmers by 2023. Loan Use With your support, this loan will allow Extensio to scale their operations to enter new regions such as Colombia and include new crops, bridge the gap in cash flow that exists between the programs that they need to deploy to 16,500 farmers and when they receive payments from their customers, and perform impact monitoring and evaluation to help improve their services and scalability.
